origin:

There are different accounts about the origin of Hajr e Aswad. One of the accounts is that it has fallen from heaven and shows where the Prophet Adam (A.S.) built the first chapel on earth.

According to the most authentic and generally accepted narrative, Hajj Aswad was taken to the Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) while building Kabah. It points out that when the prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) almost completed the construction of Ka'ba, he noticed that there was still some distance. So he asked his son prophet Ismail (A.S) to find a piece of stone that could fill this gap. Prophet Ismail (A.S) raided but he could not find the right stone. When he returned to his father, he noticed that the gap was full. When asked about the prophet Ibrahim (A.S), the stone was brought to him by the angel Jibraeel (A.S).

Ibn Abbas stated that the Prophet Muhammad (may he rest in peace) said:

"When Blackstone came down from heaven, it was whiter than milk, but the sin of Adam's son made it black." (Tirmidhi)

When performing Tawaf, Muslims must kiss Hajar al-Aswad (or just touch or point it). Kissing does not mean that they will pay homage or prayer to the stone. They only do so because it is the holy shrine of the prophet Muhammad (may he rest in peace).

On the Day of Judgment, each belief in the spirit of Hajar al-Aswad will be testified by the stone itself.

Another hadith stated:

"Hajr e Aswad and al-Maqam (Ibrahim) are two jewels in Paradise's gem. If Allah does not hide their light, they will light up everything between East and West." (Tirmidhi)
